A POPULAR cycling group is making its 70th birthday with a day of celebrations in Dawlish this weekend.

Torbay Cyclists’ Touring Club, which turns 70 on Sunday, has been promoting rides and events across South Devon for the past seven decades.

The group will be riding to the seaside town for a spot of celebratory tea and cake before joining in with the town’s Heritage and Cycling day on Sunday.

Graham Brodie, from the cycling club, said: ‘We will be joining in with the activities which includes vintage cycle rides around the town, so people are encouraged to to bring older bikes if they have them.’

Members of the public are being invited to the event at The Strand to meet members of the group and find out more about upcoming events.
