BOVEY Tracey Town Hall is to go on sale on the open market.

The Grade II listed building houses the town council chamber, clerk's office and main hall, along with storage space which, years ago, was Bovey Tracey Fire Station.

The council plans to eventually move to a purpose-built community building on the site of the former Old Thatched Inn, Station Road, which was destroyed by fire in 2008.

In November 2011, the council purchased the shell of the old building, a move that brought controversy in some quarters of the town.
