Kingsteignton is facing months of potential disruption after Devon County Council approved a £2.6million package of changes to the town's road network.

On Wednesday, the authority's cabinet agreed to press ahead with the project that will deliver extra traffic lights and make space for cyclists and pedestrians.

The aim is to reduce congestion and to pave the way for the 740 new homes and other major changes given planning permission by Teignbridge Council last month.

The work has been made possible by a £2.4million from the government's Community Infrastructure Fund to provide transport improvements in the area.

Old Exeter Road will be widened, have new pedestrian and cycling facilities installed and access to proposed recreational facilities north of the road.
