CHUDLEIGH'S Community Masterplan goes on view to the public for the first time on Saturday, June 18.

The open day gives residents the opportunity to see it in the Woodway Room at the town hall between noon and 4pm.

Now in its final draft, the masterplan's progress will be revealed at the exhibition, which will also include stands showing the biodiversity, renewable energy ideas, bats, the town centre project and some history.

Those attending are invited to meet the masterplan team and give feedback on the proposals.

In 2009, a successful parish plan process was conducted and the implementation group from that has been working alongside Chudleigh Town Council to help deliver many of the 'softer' aspirations expressed in the survey.

It has resulted in projects that have included a community orchard, a sensory garden, tree and flower planting in the town centre, a visitor centre, and new community groups.

Chudleigh has grasped the nettle in the push from Whitehall to involve communities in local decision making.

There have been Parliamentary Commission visits and masterplan team member Graham Wall has taken part in Central London presentations of the plan's progress.

After the Open Day, comments and feedback will be analysed, and if appropriate will be incorporated into the document. The finished masterplan will be presented to the town council for its approval and adoption.
