J COLLEY, retired Devon Fire Officer, of Ley Lane, Kingsteignton, writes:
To all road users –
Yet another vehicle collision has taken place at the traffic light controlled Exeter Road/Ley Lane/Longford Lane junction. The latest was on Monday, October 5, between two cars.
While locals have to live with this dangerous road layout, I would advise any motorists who value their lives to avoid, if possible, this blackspot.
Motorists will find that local drivers, aware of the impending danger of possible vehicles cutting across their path, will proceed with caution, even when the green light is in their favour, much to the annoyance of following traffic.
I would recommend that the use of these traffic lights be discontinued and removed; that this junction reverts to the installation of Stop signs at the points where Ley Lane and Longford Lane intersect with Exeter Road.
I write this urgent letter in the interests of safety for all road users and, in particular, the lives of my neighbours, friends and members of my own family.
