Cllr Mike Walters, of Vicarage Hill, Kingsteignton, writes:
I am in complete agreement with Mr Taylor and his comments about the traffic lights at the junction of Chudleigh Road and Strap Lane, Kingsteignton.
I argued the case before they were installed to no avail. Now drivers are facing queues of traffic and some are showing impatience, quite understandably, over the control of traffic rather than free flow with a roundabout.
I have approached the highways officer at Devon County Council and have been informed that the regulator for the sequencing will be altered to accommodate the flow of traffic and thereby ease the queuing of traffic. This scheme, albeit linked to community infrastructure funding, was still an unnecessary expenditure of cash that could have been used elsewhere.
I also agree with his sentiment on the Tesco roundabout on the Newton Road. The road needs widening and the roundabout made to ease traffic queues.
I have also requested and, so far it has been agreed, that there should be a pedestrian crossing in this vicinity, particularly when the Premier Inn and the Beefeater Restaurant operate.MORE LETTERS ONLINE
