Offering new wealthy Chudleigh homeowners £400 vouchers for bikes and public transport is a waste and would be better spent on improving bus services for the whole community, it has been claimed.

Developers Bovis Homes Ltd were told on Monday that as part of the planning permission they were after for 47 homes at Parade they would have to set aside £19,000 for people moving into the development.

Householders would be given £395.50 to spend on cycling equipment and other alternatives to the car.
