WAYLAND VAN HILDYCK-SMITH, of Newton Abbot, writes: Of all the proverbs 'let not the right hand know what the left doeth' and everything you read should be 'taken with a pinch of salt', none could be more apt when reading the MDA regarding the great Turbine Turmoil. On the one hand we have Helen Davis telling us that three out of five planning applications 'have been turned down', yet one of them, Mr Black, of Abbotskerswell, was unaware that his had been turned down as no-one to his knowledge had objected. Cllr Hook, whose planning permission had been granted according to the council, due to no-one having complained, withdrew his own application voluntarily due to pressure from his neighbours who complained quite vociferously. What are we to believe from such muddled reports? It is a pity that no-one is prepared to at least 'give it a go' and prove one way or the other if this is the way ahead to a better environment. I note the comments that 'Cllr Hook is a bit of a bull at a gate on environmental issues'. This rather implies a 'fools rush in' attitude and a project somewhat unthought out, which is very far from the truth. Cllr Hook is one of the most meticulous and environmentally orientated persons you could ever wish to meet. Have you not read the results from his recycling efforts alone? He is to be applauded for his efforts.
