TORQUAY United footballer Elliot Benyon and commercial manager and former player Dean Edwards, discarded their football boots and became waiters to serve Christmas lunches at the Kingsteignton Royal British Legion Club on Monday.

Around 60 elderly people from KingsCare, the Friends of Kingsteignton Surgery, attended the special event.

Earlier this year KingsCare won the Queen's Award for Voluntary Service – known as 'the MBE for community groups'.

The Christmas lunch was also part of Torquay United's new initiative to spread the club's message into the community and turn Kingsteignton yellow for the match against Southend United at Plainmoor on Saturday, December 14.
