Kingsteignton Town Council is to throw its weight behind a campaign to reduce speeds in Hackney Lane.
Residents living on and near the single track road have long argued the 60mph limit is inappropriate and warned someone will be injured or killed unless action is taken.
The recent death of two pet cats has only fuelled the concern and a petition is now circulating through the community.
John Little, general manager for 23 years at the 90-room Passage House Inn located at the end of the lane, has described the situation as 'an accident waiting to happen'.
