MORE than 120 residents from Ashburton and Cleder celebrated 40 years of twinning last weekend.

The Ashburton Twinning Association hosted a picnic in St Lawrence Chapel, a trip to World of Country Life at Exmouth and dinner at Dartmoor Lodge for their French guests.

The town council held a reception at the town hall during which an anniversary charter was signed by the two town mayors, while certificates were presented to those who had been with the twinning association since the beginning.
