ENTERTAINING shoppers and visitors near St Leonard's Tower, Newton Abbot, on Saturday morning, was the Newton Abbot Ukulele Club.

On this occasion the club was raising money for its own funds and brought in £35.

The club was formed two-and-a-half years ago by its chairman Stephen Morrison, with four members – there are now around 25.

It meets at Abbrook Park Social Club, Kingsteignton, every Wednesday evening and anyone is welcome to go along and join in the fun to learn, teach, play, or sing.

The club does charity events free of charge or for a small donation.

Its next engagement is the Help for Heroes event in the grounds of Forde House, Newton Abbot, on Saturday and Sunday, August 14 and 15.
