SIXTEEN schools across Devon have had to close or partially close as the freezing weather continues.

So far only one Teignbridge seems to have been affected.

Doddiscombsleigh Primary School isClosed closed until 10am to assess the safety of the site and ensure we have adequate staffing. All parents will be notified as the situation is assessed.

As temperatures in some places across Teignbridge dipped to minus five, Devon County Council has listed the schools affected.

Meanwhile the county council has had the gritters out in force over the past few days and is urging people to look out for one another.

The Met Office has issued a Yellow Warning of Ice and Fog for Devon and the South West of England until 11am today.

The temperature in Newton Abbot is not expected to rise above freezing until lunch time today, Monday. Sleet is forecast for tomorrow and temperatures are expected to dip below freezing again on Thursday and Friday.
