A COUPLE who have put their heart and soul into a successful community sports facility on the edge of Newton Abbot have been mortified by a brutal assault on their venture by 'tooled up' vandals.

But Julieanne and Ross Fewings have vowed to carry on their tireless voluntary work at the Buckland and Milber sports complex despite Tuesday night's wrecking spree at the Long Lane playing fields.

Mrs Fewings said from the scene: 'I just can't believe this has happened to us. We've been up here every day since last September trying to get a new cafe ready for the youngsters and this happens.'
