STAFF at the Passmore Edwards Centre, Newton Abbot, are waiting to find out the cost of a vandal attack which left the four-month-old £2.8 million building under inches of water.

It is expected to be thousands of pounds after an 'act of deliberate vandalism' in one of the ladies' toilets on the first floor left the building under several inches of water.

It is thought the incident happened around 4pm on Saturday when the centre, which only opened four months ago, shut until the flood was discovered by cleaners at 6.30am on Monday.

Police in Newton Abbot have been informed and are looking at CCTV
