FIRE crews were called to the A380 between Newton Abbot and Torquay on Saturday afternoon after a vehicle caught fire.

Crews were called at around 4.30pm on July 5 to the south-bound carriageway of the South Devon Expressway following reports of the fire.

One lane of the A380 was closed due to the fire.

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said the vehicle was ‘100 per cent damaged by fire’.

Crews used two breathing apparatus, a hose reel jet, thermal imaging camera and an environmental protection kit to extinguish the fire.
