A CHRISTIAN SUPPORTER from Newton Abbot writes:May I say how much I admire the Rev John Leonard for speaking out about being able to die with dignity in your paper last week.It is about time someone from the church spoke some reality and common sense instead of being holier than thou.I profess to being a Christian but I don't go along with all the Bible says, either. I think that a truly loving and compassionate God as I believe Him to be wold not want anyone to suffer long term illness and an undignified death. As the Rev John says, animals are put to sleep when suffering – why not the human race?I don't think it should be used willy nilly but I do, for genuine need of a dignified and painless ending of life. I am fully supportive of the Rev John's views.Perhaps that is why his church at Kingskerswell is full every Sunday, including a lot of young families who we need for the future of the church. I don't see all this attendance in the other churches in the area.
