LATE night shopping in Newton Abbot kicks off tomorrow with the return of the popular Victorian Evening.

Present hunting shoppers will be treated to a night of entertainment from fire jugglers, magicians and musicians.

Stalls will be scattered through the town selling a range of festive gifts including calendars, cakes and cards.

Youngsters will be able to watch party entertainer Wizz Bang before popping in to see Father Christmas in his Clock Tower grotto from 6.30pm until 8.30pm.

Natalie Hicks, the town council’s events coordinator, said: ‘Keep your eyes peeled for the gentleman on a Penny Farthing and a stilt walking Victorian Policeman who will be walking around Market Square and Market Walk throughout the evening.’

A raffle – in aid of Meadowside Residential Home and the Towersey Foundation – will be held at 8pm.

Tickets can be bought at the town hall during the run up to the event or on the evening.

Ms Hicks added: ‘There is plenty to see and do for all the family so shoppers are invited to come along and experience the unique atmosphere at Newton Abbot’s festive and fun Victorian Evening.’
