The community spirit in Moretonhampstead has delivered one of the best carnivals for years, the organisers have said.

Not only were the procession entries up to their highest level for several years – some 44 in total – but the events in the week leading up to the big day were varied and well attended.

New for 2012 was a gathering of classic cars and showing of country crafts.

Come the procession itself the streets of the moorland town, were lined with revellers keen to see the hundreds of people taking part.
