ARE you proud of living in Bovey Tracey? If so, the town council would love to hear from you.

In an new initiative, Bovey Tracey Town Council is hoping to hear from potential volunteers willing to make a real difference.

The town council, whose elected members are themselves volunteers, is seeking enthusiastic individuals to assist where they can with various activities around the Bovey parish.

The type of activities volunteers could help out with include footpath inspections, reporting potholes and broken streetlights, litter picking, events support such as flyer/leaflet distribution, marshalling, taking photographs, and carrying out minor maintenance and improvement tasks.

Town mayor Tony Allen, said: ‘The council cannot be everywhere at once, so having residents who are willing to enhance the services we already provide, taking pride in where they live and helping to keep areas clean, is beneficial for us all.

‘Make a difference in your neighbourhood, meet new people, get fitter, feel better, improve your local environment – volunteer with us!’

Town clerk Mark Wells added: ‘Our key responsibility is the health and welfare of those who choose to help us so we will make sure that we assess risks and equip or train willing volunteers as appropriate and accordingly we carry full employer’s liability and public liability insurance’.

If you are interested in volunteering and feel you might be able to help please get in touch with the town clerk without obligation by emailing [email protected] or call 01626 834217.
