THESE five people are all standing in the Devon County Council elections for Ipplepen and the Kerswells.

ADAM BELL (LAB)

I’ve lived and worked in Devon for three years. I have listened regularly on doorsteps to the issues and concerns of local residents and am a strong advocate for the environment, cycling, improved cycling and transport infrastructure as a way we can address the problems of congestion and pollution.

CHRIS CLARANCE (CON)

Chris first joined his parish council on its formation back in 1984, so bags of experience of politics at grass roots level, before becoming a member of TDC in 2003 and DCC in 2009. Chris is married to Sally who very much supports him in all his local community activities.

ALISTAIR DEWHIRST (LIB DEM)

Alistair Dewhirst – your strongest voice. Since 2013 I have successfully campaigned on speed limits, libraries, school crossings, bus services and litter. Re-elect me for the new division and let’s fund our schools, care for older people, fix our roads, cut waste and keep Devon green.

AMY WALKDEN (GREEN)

As a mental health nurse I’ve witnessed firsthand how negatively those most in need are affected by unequal wages, poor social housing and break-up of public services. I’m concerned about funding difficulties the NHS is facing and impacts on our hardworking doctors, nurses, care workers and ultimately their patients.

GERRIE WILLIAMS (UKIP)

Of major concern is the creeping development on the hill above Shaldon and Ringmore which threatens its rural character and charm. Similarly, across the whole of The Kerswells and Ipplepen, increasing amounts of dog fouling, and vandalism of plants in public areas is exacerbating, thus detracting from its natural beauty.
