A public meeting next month will give residents the chance to have their say on the stench of 'putrescent meat with a strong hint of silage' coming from a Kingsteignton waste processing plant.

In 1995 Viridor was given temporary planning permission at its Heathfield landfill site to recycle kitchen waste into compost.

The vessels are designed to contain odours but people living as far afield as Chudleigh maintain that is not the case.

The subject last came to public attention in November when the firm applied to Devon County Council for permission to stay on the site.

It also wants additional capacity to process up to 90,000 tonnes of waste each year as part of a £16 million investment.FULL STORY IN OUR ONLINE EDITION
