Dave Grylls, of Wolverton Drive, Kingsteignton, writes:
A recent fall has placed me in a wheelchair and I have become very much aware of the difficulties that many in similar circumstances find themselves.
Positioned in the centre of Kingsteignton, Oakford Lawn is but one example.
If one is pushing or propelling oneself it is most difficult to combat the grass, however short the cut.
I feel that some provision should be made to provide some sort of firm surface at least around the perimeter.
I have written to Kingsteignton Council on a previous occasion concerning this matter, who assure me that there is concern and have put the work out to tender.
While I realise there is a shortage of funds at the moment, this would seem to be a reasonably simple job.
Could I then appeal to some tradesperson or persons to come up with a deal that the council may consider.
We are not all wheelchair Olympians – we just need a little help!
I should also like to take the opportunity to remind those in the public houses, that we too like a pint and a chat, however, this is not always possible because of limited structural entry points.
Conversation is very much a part of life and community spirit?
