KEITH ROGERS, of kingsteignton, writes: To all the people of Kingsteignton: I would like to applaud Cllr Beryl Austen on her exceptional penmanship to my letter of the week before and confirming to all of us that she has no conception or intention of answering the main question. Why are our four district councillors 'refusing to talk to us' and maintaining an authoritarian exercise of self-imposed 'silence' on what has been going on for the last five years in regards to the local development planfor Kingsteignton. You, Cllr Austin, and your three other councillors – along with the senior parish councillors – have maintained a conspiracy of silence, thus overwhelming any deliberation or practical disapproval with we the people of Kingsteignton. Why? We as voters and parishioners of Kingsteignton have the right to challenge and demand full consultation from our nominated councillors in all these matters appertaining to the local development plan's for this area. This also applies to our illustrious county Cllr John Smith, who maintains he knew nothing or knows nothing – yet theses plans have been on the books since as early as 1990 and Cllr Smith has been aware of them since 1999. Therefore we the people of Kingsteignton command a public meeting for the whole area and further stipulate an end to the seemingly obligatory silence and want a sweeping and candid meeting with you giving all full details so that we the public can and have a say and thereby give constructive criticism and help to achieve the end result. We also command the whole parish council there as well as you four district councillors and our county Cllr John Smith. Please could we have a good turn out next Wednesday at the parish hall from 7pm to 7.30pm as, unless we voice our objections loudly, it will be the end of 1,500 years of the village history and the beginning of a new town or city.
