A Heathfield woman who survived cancer and watched helplessly when three other family members suffered from the disease has shaved her head for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Wendy McHugh, who lost a kidney and her spleen to cancer in 1991, raised more than £1,000 by holding the fundraiser.
Seven years after recovering from her own illness, Wendy lost her aunt Norah Terry to bowel cancer. Norah was nursed by Macmillan nurses for her last two nights at home.
Instead of having flowers at the funeral, a collection was held for the 'Macmillan girls.'
In 1986 her mother-in-law had died of cancer.
