Around 100 people braved the cold for the 27th Walk In The Sea event on Teignmouth seafront on Boxing Day. The fun event, which is in aid of the RNLI, was a huge success. 'It was tremendous,' said Roger Hawkins, publicity officer of the Teignmouth Lifeboat Guild. 'In the collection alone we raised £1,300, which is £100 up on last year. We also have money coming in from those who were sponsored to take part. 'We estimate that we had 2,500 spectators and the number is growing each year.' Teignbridge MP Richard Younger-Ross supported the fundraiser and judged a fancy dress competition at the event. 'We had people come along dressed as tigers, ghosts and ghouls, snowmen and of course Father Christmas,' said Mr Hawkins. 'We would like to thank all those who took part, volunteers who helped with fundraising and the spectators.'
