AN eight-year-old girl from Bovey Tracey who has a debilitating brain condition has had her life transformed thanks to the efforts of well-wishers.

Rebecca Langmead, of Avenue Road, suffers from lissencephaly with pachygyria, which results in severe developmental delay and epilepsy.

Also known as 'smooth brain', Rebecca suffers from frequent seizures and is completely dependent on her mother Sam and other carers.

At the weekend, Newlife Foundation for Disabled Children presented Rebecca with a motorised wheelchair. Her mother, who has two other children, said it will make all the difference, not only to Rebecca but to herself and husband James, who have both developed back problems caring for their daughter.
