WIDECOMBE Fair not only served up a taste of traditional Dartmoor life but also some traditional Dartmoor weather.

Visitors braved the drizzle and wind in their waxed coats, umbrellas and rain hats on Tuesday.

Time was when the fair was a vital part of the local economy, a chance for farmers to sell off stock before winter. These days it's run by an army of volunteers and raises money for charity, serving up a mix of livestock classes, terrier racing, sheep shearing, bale tossing and displays of vintage machinery, children's craft and home produce.

In the village centre there were rides for the children, stalls of every description and even a town crier's competition.
