A WIDOW from Newton Abbot died after suffering a complication during a heart procedure at Torbay Hospital, an inquest heard.
Retired shop assistant Yvonne Aggett, 79, of Applegarth Close, was suffering from ‘complete heart block’ when she underwent the operation after admission on June 16 last year.
She died the following day after a pacing wire inserted into her heart during the procedure damaged the vital organ.
Cause of death was given a perforation of the heart’s right ventricle by pacing wire, an opening inquest in Torquay was told yesterday (thurs).
Newton Abbot-born Mrs Aggett, nee Sanders, was formally identified by her son Darren, a company director from Kingsteignton.
A full inquest will be held later in the year.
