Pirates, cowboys and nurses were seen on the streets as part of Bovey Tracey Carnival procession on Saturday.
Although numbers for entries were down, around £700 has been raised for charities in the area.
'Those who were involved in the day really enjoyed it,' said Rob Pettit, chairman of Bovey Tracey Carnival Committee.
The main winner of the day was Newton Abbot Royalty which won three prizes with its canal barge themed float.
So far this summer it has won a handful of second prizes and now has three top awards to add to the trophy cabinet – one for Queen of Queens, one for best float in the carnival and one for carnival royalty
Carnival committee member and treasurer Colin Parker, said: 'I'm delighted with the results from Saturday it was great to see that the Newton Abbot float has been recognised for all of its efforts.
'Many people have put hours of hard work into the production of the float and we were very lucky to receive float sponsorship again from IDS.
'I would like to thank all the carnival committee for all their hard work and fingers crossed for a few more firsts in the upcoming summer carnivals.'
