TWO Chudleigh farmers have won an award for their work supporting 40 acres of meadow and grassland.

John Whetman and Audrey Compton scooped the England 2015 Meadow and Grasslands award for their rich country wildlife site at Deer Park Farm.

The ancient grassland and hay meadows and the farm support more than 350 species of wild flowers, including thousands of green-winged orchids.

The grassland is also home to many brilliantly-coloured waxcap fungi and other wildlife.

The couple have spent years cultivating the wildlife on the farm.
