Derek Newman, of Newton Abbot, writes:
While perusing the new Asda development in Newton Abbot, with a friend who is an experienced builder of many years, he pointed to the roof of the new building and said: 'That roof covers about an acre of space. During heavy rainfall, the water which would normally soak into the ground is now going to run, tons of water, directly into the River Lemon.'
Two things spring to mind: 1 Watch out if you live downstream from this development. 2 Why can not this water be caught and routed into the water system for use, instead of wasted?
Is is just us who have thought of this. Or are there plans to address this problem?
