A NATURE trail has just been opened in Chudleigh Knighton which will give careful observers a chance to see a very reclusive inhabitant.

Visitors enjoying the two-mile stroll around the Ant Trail may be lucky enough to catch a sight of the narrow-headed ant, which cannot be found anywhere else in England.

Anyone keen to locate these rare creatures’ nearest neighbours would have to venture into the Scottish Highlands.

The trail is one of 50 special wildlife havens cared for by the Devon Wildlife Trust.

Ant signs have been devised to show walkers the way along the circular route.

The venture has been supported by Hennock Parish Council, Devon County Council, Bovey Tracey Town Council and Teignbridge Council.
