LITTLE did the children of Wolborough C of E Primary School know when they spent the afternoon making Christmas cards back in October that two of their number would be prize winners as well as bringing joy to around 150 people!

As part of the School’s Enrichment programme, children in Years 1-6 made Christmas cards using different art techniques which were then given out by the choir when they were out and about carol singing.

As well as that, some cards were selected to be entered into Newton Abbot MP Anne Marie Morris’ Christmas card competition and a competition run by the Children’s Services Department of Devon County Council.

The school was overjoyed to hear that Josh Jenkinson from Year 6 had won Anne Marie Morris’ competition with his beautiful painting of a robin.

Josh was very excited and proud to receive a visit from Anne Marie herself when she presented him with a framed copy of his card and some delicious chocolate treats.

Imagine the surprise when the School learnt that Harley Bryan from Year 3 had also come runner-up in the Devon County Council competition with his charming drawing of a robin!

His card was used as the official Christmas card of the Children’s Services Department Leadership Team.

Those whose cards didn’t win were very pleased that their cards were given out at Wolborough Court Residential Home, Stover Court Retirement Home and Tesco, bringing joy to the residents of Newton Abbot.
