POLICE were on scene last night after a girl was spotted on the bridge on Torquay Road, above the railway line.

Devon and Cornwall Police were called at 6.10pm yesterday, November 2, following concerns for the welfare of a teenage girl reported missing from her home in the Newton Abbot area.

A spokesman for the force said ‘Officers attended and carried out an area search with the assistance of a dog unit.

‘The girl was located on a railway bridge in Torquay Road, Newton Abbot, around 7.10pm.

‘Officers negotiated with the girl and she was eventually brought safely from the bridge around 10.40pm. She was checked over by ambulance.’
