Several members of Teignmouth Art Society have had work accepted by the prestigious South West Academy of Art for its open exhibition in Exeter at the end of this month.

The president of the society, Martin Dutton, is an academician of the South West Academy. This means he is a professional artist of importance and standing in the region.

He is pictured here with one of his paintings of Venice and a study of Powderham Castle, painted on an art society outing this summer.

Martin is highly skilled at using colour to show the quality of light. His shadows are not just grey, but a carefully-selected palette of delicious colour which shows whether the light is a cool English spring, or a hot Italian sun.
