ANNE Scanes told those attending Chudleigh Business Guild's first public meeting in the town hall last week to work together as a team with a united vision. 'Do that and we can only blossom and grow as a town. 'As small independent and often innovative businesses we stand out from the crowd and offer individuality, service and quality,' she said. The guest speaker was Martin Chappel, of the Federation of Small Businesses, from Barnstaple, who gave advice on health and safety issues. He said paying a small fee to join the Federation of Small Businesses pulled a big wealth of advice from professional people at the end of a telephone 24 hours a day. That included free legal and health and safety advice to federation members. Among the guests present was the chairman of Chudleigh Town Council, Cllr Lorraine Evans. Ms Scanes said the town council supported the guild.
