EXPERTS have warned that Kingsteignton swimming pool should be mothballed for 12 months while efforts are made to source funding to secure its future.

It could be the only option available in a bid to keep the 25m-long heated open air pool open in the long term in the face of the worst financial crisis in its 33-year history.

Pool organisers have also been advised to form a limited company to protect them from being personally liable for any debts which could arise.

Hopes are high, however, that a solution can be found with an injection of new blood into the committee running the pool.

Residents turned out in force to the annual meeting on Tuesday.
