HUNDREDS of young cyclists took advantage of a brand new road to test out their skills on two wheels, writes Ellen Grindley.

Ahead of the opening of the realigned B3193, minerals firm Sibelco hosted a special day allowing schools and cycle clubs to use the 2.7km traffic-free stretch for a host of activities.

Moving the road is a £10 million project being carried out by Sibelco to access reserves of internationally important ball clay reserves which lie under the existing route which passes through the clay firm's quarry on the edge of Kingsteignton.
