YOUNG bloods from Newton Abbot and Kingskerswell vanquished their elders to win a national rock competition in London.

Three-piece New Project band – with an average age of 13 – showed the older hands how to make the joint jump when they emerged triumphant at the Rock the House of Commons talent spotter in the capital.

Impressing the judges were 11-year-old Milber drummer Dan Aston, a pupil at Decoy Primary School; and brothers Ben and Zach Cornish, aged 13 and 14, from Kingskerswell. Both are students at Newton Abbot College.
