BOVEY Tracey ended their losing run with a first win in three games when they trounced Plymouth by eight wickets.

Plymouth were all out for 104 in the 40th of their 50 overs, lower-order batsman John Parker claiming the dubious distinction of making the top score with a modest 18. By the time Parker arrived, Plymouth were in deep trouble at 70-7.

Shahid Yousaf, the Indian Cricket League star who assisted Bovey last month after they lost overseas player Farhaan Behardien, came back for this match and made a telling contribution.

Yousaf's 2-19 off ten overs kept Plymouth on the back foot and allowed Andrew Longstreet and the Bradley brothers to pick up most of the remaining wickets.

Some sharp catching helped – Richard Longstreet took three, including two at point – and without Parker and James Nicholls adding 31 for the ninth wicket it would have been over much sooner.

Plymouth got an early breakthough when stand-in opener Gurpreet Singh was lbw to Burke at the end of the first over. Singh had volunteered to go up the order after Lance Ames suffered an injury while fielding.

Ben Ayres was bowled by Parker with the score on 32, which was as good as it got for Plymouth as Yousaf promptly smashed Bovey to victory.

Bovey won the game on the back of an unbroken stand of 76 between Yousaf and Chris Bradley.

Yousaf clubbed 12 fours and a six on his way to 82 not out from 76 balls. He finished by hitting Jack Little for three fours in four balls. Bradley made nine not out at the other end.
