The Local Neighbourhood Policing team and Ashburton Football Club have been in discussion to bring youth football back to the town.
The aim is to have a number of teams competing, from under-eights through to U16s, in the local leagues in and around Teignbridge.
'We will not be able to achieve this unless there are enough players and volunteers to take part and help with the running/maintaining of each team, ' said PCSO Gareth Jones.

'Although there are a number of funding opportunities being looked into, we are also appealing for any interested and willing local businesses, which are able to support the creating and running of the teams.
