LIVING in a bubble on Earth is what we all do. And it’s relatively a small one.
Most of us know the air is mostly nitrogen, oxygen, and some rare gases, and a little carbon dioxide.
But it’s more than that – I remember when I was young, when my mother was banging the bed pillows as she made the bed and seeing in the sunbeam in the room, thick dust-clouds.
It was then I realised that when we breathe, we breathe in more than fresh air.
Today, most of our big cities and towns have air pollution far higher than it should be. You would have thought that thick smogs were a thing of the past, but no, new pollutants are just invisible now; but just as bad for you.
It is estimated that many are suffering from asthma due to air pollution.
This does not end with air either, our rivers, lakes and seas are having more swage dumped into them and plastics than is good for us and the wildlife; even lake Windermere is in trouble with pollution.
When living in a bubble it’s not always possible to see the big picture, but if you could see it from a different perspective, as I did as a child and spotted all the dust in my mother’s bedroom when she was making the beds, it’s only then you can see what we humans are doing to our environment and this very small bubble we all live in.
We only have one air bubble to breath and one sea to swim in along with all the other creatures.
Surely, it’s time to clean up our act on planet earth, as it doesn’t matter if you are a rich CEO or not; we all live in one bubble of air to breath and water to drink!
