The Kingdom of Earth Fights back!

Some years ago, James Ephraim Lovelock CH CBE FRS, a scientist and futurist who worked with NASA, wrote in one of his many books, the Gaia theory.

His conclusion was the planet is like a living spirit and that all living organisms interact as one and form a synergetic and self-regulating system that maintains the climate and biochemical conditions that make life on Earth possible.

We now know that fundamentally, he was correct. He also said in his book that if you keep poking the Earth, bombing it, digging it, chopping down trees, poisoning it, polluting it and last but not least, having more people on the Earth that all these eco systems can cope with, then the earth connected systems would break down and collapse.

James Lovelock said, to expect a fight back from the Earth.

Shocking storms in Canada, the USA, Japan and by the time you read this, who knows where else, is part of the fight-back. There is only so much you can do to a living thing before it will fight for its life or die.

What is the science of all this? As the poem goes, ‘no man is an island.’ In other words, everything is connected or the whole works just collapse.

The Earth has taken billions of years to make it all work together.

As Prof Lovelock states, and David Attenborough says, we humans are destroying the earth’s eco system’s faster than it can repair itself.

Climate change is not just about getting hotter and laying in the sun in colder latitudes, its stronger storms; dryer; hotter and colder. When we put extra energy into the atmosphere due to trapping the Suns energy by burning carbon, it means the wind can pull cold air from places like the earth’s poles and push it almost anywhere. This is what we are seeing with the ice bomb in the USA.

If we don’t get on top of climate change – whether you believe it or not, the Earth will throw everything at us to stay alive.

We are just starting to see the beginning of the greatest fight back since the asteroid killed the dinosaurs and 90% of all other creatures on earth 66 million years ago. We can’t win with a fight with the planet, as the planet is our life support system.

Only a madman or women would do such a thing.

As we head into next year, I am worried what more signs the planet is going to throw at us next summer, if we don’t heed the warnings and act as if it is an emergency.
