DAWLISH Bowling Club earned a hard-fought Mid Devon League victory on Saturday, July 4, against a determined Kingsbridge side.
The hosts began strongly across the rinks, but the visitors refused to let the match slip away, pushing Dawlish all the way to the closing ends.
Rink one was won 19-16, rink two won 15-13, rink three drawn 16-16 and rink four won 17-12.
Dawlish collected 13 league points as a result, Kingsbridge taking one point from the drawn rink. The visitors made Dawlish work hard throughout, but the home side showed resilience and composure to secure a valuable win.
Skip Alan Maher praised the team’s determination and ability to stay calm under pressure.
“The lads held their nerve brilliantly. Kingsbridge really tested us, but to come away with 13 points is a great result and keeps us right in the hunt for a top-two finish,” he said.
Meanwhile, matches were back on track for Bovey Tracey following the disruption of the previous week’s heatwave.
