Abbrook Park Bowling Club president John Pike opened the new season by delivering the first wood of the year, followed by Jim Preston winning a bottle of whisky in the spider competition, a short match and refreshments. The club has spent a lot of time and money over the winter on the green, which drew several favourable comments.
