ASHBURTON’S winning start to the season in C Division West continued with a 134-run victory over Kingsbridge that keeps them top of the table.

Openers Steve Edmonds (20) and George Yabsley (23) got away to a 45-run start that was built on by Ashley Berry (21) in partnership with Vaibhav ‘Bittu’ Sheth, who went on to make 80 off of 71 balls.

Kingsbridge got into the unhappy habit of losing wickets in clumps and were all out for 124 with more than eight overs to go.

James Fletcher (38) and Alex Browne (22) had the only notable scores while wickets clattered 22 yards away.

Sheth (3-27) led Ashburton’s bowling effort, aided and abetted by Edmonds, Chris Yeo and Tom Higgs with two each.

Skipper Lloyd White believes there is room for improvement despite the win: “A great team performance, but we can still be more clinical with the ball.”
