NEWTON Abbot Spurs have been joined in the next round of the Walter C Parson League Cup by both of their South Devon rivals.

Teignmouth AFC haven’t had the most seamless of seasons to date, sitting 13th in the Peninsula League East table at the time of writing, yet they clearly have the number of Torrington AFC.

They won away at Torrington by a single goal in mid-August, eliminating them from the FA Vase, and have now snuffed out their league cup ambitions as well.

In a lively first-half of football, Scott Baxter, Harry Breslan and Zak Khadaroo were all on target for Liam Jones’ side whilst Liam Martin netted at the other end.

The second 45 passed by without any goals to report on, Teignmouth holding on to their lead and moving onto the third round as a result.

Bovey Tracey AFC were also on their travels and whilst it wasn’t as clear cut, they advanced to the next stage all the same.

Trefew Park was their destination, the home of Peninsula League West side Camelford AFC.

Camelford took the lead shortly before the break and shortly after it, Josh Webber responded for the Moorlanders.

With a winning goal out of reach, a penalty shootout was required, not something that is unfamiliar to Bovey.

Ben Gerring’s men fought back from behind to take Western League Buckland Athletic to penalties in the St Luke’s Challenge Cup.

Cieran Bridger struck the decisive spot-kick on that day, against his former club and in similar fashion, Bovey successfully converted all five again.

The draw has been made for the third round with Bovey set to host Launceston and Teignmouth welcoming Wadebridge Town to Coombe Valley, both ties scheduled for Saturday, November 29. They were supposed to play league games on that day, which are now rearranged for 2026.
