BUCKLAND Athletic and Bovey Tracey AFC will be hosting FA Vase second-round ties this weekend.

Having edged past Bishops Lydeard and Radstock Town in round one respectively, the reward for both South Devon sides is a home draw.

Bovey will welcome Corsham Town, of the Hellenic League Premier (step five) and Hampshire-based Millbrook AFC visit Buckland at the VX3 Stadium, of the Wessex League Premier (step five).

Ben Gerring’s Bovey have a tough task ahead with Corsham flying high in their league.

The Quarrymen are fourth in the division although the team from Wiltshire have followed up a six-game winning streak with a three-game winless run, so may not be firing on all cylinders at this moment in time.

Meanwhile, Millbrook currently sit 15th in the Wessex Football League Premier and their form has been inconsistent of late, winning four and losing four of their last eight. On the weekend, they lost 3-1 at home to third-placed Hamworthy Recreation.

Buckland are one of four Western League Premier sides still competing in the Vase with Devon rivals Ivybridge Town hosting Slimbridge, Helston Athletic heading to Cinderford Town and Barnstaple Town crossing paths with Sherborne Town at Mill Road.

Bovey on the other hand are one of only two SW Peninsula League East sides flying the flag, Ilminster Town being the other and they have an away tie against Amesbury Town to look forward to on Saturday.

Talking of the Peninsula League and whilst Teignmouth AFC have the weekend off, Newton Abbot Spurs have a hugely intriguing clash at The Rec.

Connor Marshall’s men saw off second-placed Bridport FC in their last outing, winning 3-2, and now their guests will be fourth-placed Cullompton Rangers.

Cully are two points behind Spurs having played a game extra- their last game was also against Dorset-based Bridport and it ended 2-1 in favour of the Bees at Adopstar Park.

Finally, to the South Devon Football League, where there are a few eye-catching affairs taking place.

In the Premier Division, Kingsteignton Athletic will be keen for a statement victory over leaders The Windmill and Newton Abbot 66 can go above Paignton Saints with a win over them at Osborne Park.
