JEWSON WESTERN LEAGUE

Buckland Athletic 4 St Blazey AFC 2

BUCKLAND Athletic netted four times in the first half to put their latest Western League fixture beyond the reach of opponents St Blazey AFC.

The Bucks “were great for 60 mins but still have more to give” according to manager Matt Cusack on social media.

Ryan Bush continued his rich vein of form in front of goal, getting the ball rolling after a scrappy passage of play.

He nearly struck the second as well but midfielder Ruben Kane beat him to it, opening his account for the club in the process with less than 10 minutes on the clock at Homers Heath.

Bush did eventually double his tally for the day though, putting the Yellows 3-0 up and causing some heated conversations between the St Blazey players.

On the brink of half-time, Jack Baxter picked up another assist, putting it on a plate for Sean Thomson who duly obliged, tapping home the fourth goal in an electric 45 minutes.

Thomson came close to making it five after the break but it was the visitors who found the net next.

Their fight back began courtesy of who else but former Buckland man Teigan Rosenquest- he moved on from the club in the summer.

Noah Maund grabbed a second for the Cornish side late on but it was nothing more than consolation at that point.

As Cusack alluded to though, Buckland have regularly excelled for spells of games without putting together a complete 90-minute performance.

This is another big three points all the same, making it four home wins from four for the season. Prior to the midweek action, they sit fifth on 16 points.

Next up for Buckland is an excursion to Somerset, where they’ll clash with mid-table Shepton Mallet on Saturday, September 13.
